Articulations of Democracy Education
The conference Articulations of Democracy Education is organised by the departments of Didactics of Civic Education, Language Teaching and Learning Research and History Didactics at the University of Vienna and the Vienna Democracy Centre in cooperation with the Association of Austrian Adult Education Centres (VÖV) and the Centre for Teacher Education at the University of Vienna. The aim of the conference is to shed light on the relationship between language, democracy and education. Theoretical, empirical and didactic perspectives will be brought into dialogue.
Abstracts can be submitted on one of the following - but also other - questions:
- How can the relationship between language, democracy and education be analysed?
- What potential does democratic education have from a subject-specific and transdisciplinary perspective?
- Under what conditions can articulations of democracy be created in education?
- What roles do language and political education play in promoting a culture of democracy?
- How do linguistic and subjective ideas of democracy influence each other?
- What forms of inclusion and exclusion through language exist/have existed in the context of democratic education and what effects do/did they have?
The Call for Papers is open until 04 December 2024. Information on submitting papers can be found in the section Abstract Submission.
We look forward to your contributions and an inspiring conference in Vienna!
